The Longhorns started strong, taking an 8-0 lead with quarterback Carson Thomas’ run following Matthew Laughlin’s fumble recovery and reclaiming the lead after a pair of Mustangs scores with Thomas’ 9-yard pass to Reese Scott. The Mustangs advanced to the second round of the playoffs for the first time with a victory over visiting Lanier.
